It was a dark and stormy day somewhere on the planet but here in Southern Oregon it was hot with brilliant sunshine! Over thirty pilots were ready to put on an Air Show to remember along with numerous behind-the-scenes volunteers.

The people who made it happen

There are so many things that go into a successful Air Show and all of those things depend on people to make it happen. Our organizers were Larry Myers (CD) and Patti Myers (Sound System) who spent months planning and prearranging dozens of parts of the show, then put their lives on hold during the last week before the show to bring everything together to make the whole event fun, safe and entertaining. Thank-You, Larry and Patti Myers for a job very well done.

Jay Strickland was our emcee this year and he did a bang up job. Jay sprinkles his dialogue with his wonderful knowledge of things that fly. Thanks to you, Mr. Strickland.

Opening Ceremonies

The singing of the Star Spangled Banner signals the real show is about to begin. The air was filed with airplanes sporting American flags or painted patriotic colors. Some of the planes put on a smoke show as well.

Finally! The moment that the kids had been waiting for... THE Candy Drop!

  • Bruce Tharpe prepares 5 pounds of candy and a small number of toys on parachutes and packs them into his Super Flyin' King. The kids are lined up with several adult flyers to manage the surge and when Bruce triggers the bomb drop off they all go! Everyone gets something as seen to by the adult club members.

The entire proceeds from the gate, which amounts to thousands of dollars, is donated to the Children's Miracle Network. It is a modest gift by our club to the community that supports us. Thanks to all and see you next year!!
